2Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
When we read the word "interpret" in the Word of God, it is always in reference to dreams and tongues. When you speak to me in French, should I turn and tell folks what you said, translate from French to English, or should I interpret what you said and give them my interpretation? The Bible is the same way. It is the Word of God. God Inspired, God Breathed. Who are we to interpret His Word? Let's simply let the translaters take it from the original languages into Enlish, or whatever laguage you read. Take the Word for what It reads. If you need an explaination, the Bible provides it, throughout. The NT and the OT support each other. If you are trying to tell me something that contradicts the Word of God, don't expect me to believe you. I may not be wiser or smarter than you but I have God and His Word. He is the final say in the matter. Let's not try to "interpret" His Word. Let's accept it at face value. God is the truth and that truth is absolute. You can check back in a day or two, for addendums to this post. I know several of you who are going to write and complain. You feel that you can chose what you accept as fact, and what you want to interpret. Something as simple as creation vs. evolution. The Bible reads six days, but somehow you interpret that as six billion years. The Bible reads to love each other, you've interpreted that to read tolerate each others sins. The Bible reads that Jesus is the only way, some of you have interpreted that to read that all religions lead to Jesus, God, salvation! The Bible reads that you must accept Jesus to receive salvation, but you've interpreted that to mean that you can just be a nice guy, live in sin and do good works and still get into heaven. The Bible reads that we were once darkness but now we are light in the Lord, and that we are to live as children of light, but some of you interpret that to mean that you can be a stripper and still be a Christian, because God wants you stripping so that you can spread the Good News to folks in the stip joints, or a homosexual, murderer, thief, adulter, etc. You say that you can be these and still be a Christian, because God wants you to live in sin, contrary to His own Words! So write to me (email ) and if you want, I'll post your replies here along with my responses. You're not arguing with me, but with the absolute Word of God.
Ephesians 5:8: For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible.
