| Y'all know me. Working in Christian talk radio and playing on all the chat boards, I get to hear and discuss all the excuses and arguments. So when I had this latest discussion, I was left sad and disappointed. A friend of mine who loves Christ and whose father is a Christian Pastor, made these comments to me just the other night while we were discussing sin: "Sin is not always a choice." "He's a sinner, but also saved." "If you want to keep me as a friend, we won't talk about sin." "I don't believe that being genetically predisposed to being a sinner is a sin." "Practicing it, yes, being it, no." "My friend isn't going to hell for being a sinner." "I'm not going to say that my friend is going to hell for being a sinner." "My friend doesn't choose to be a sinner, his father was and he never knew his father." "One sin is not as bad as the other." "Repentance will not make him unsinful." And this one just confused the daylights out of me... "My friend doesn't practice the sin, but he is a sinner, he's not sinfully active. Our church allows sinners so long as they are not active." Now - you can tell I edited that just a hair. I took out tha actual sin we were discussing, and inserted the word "sin". Where that made it grammatically incorrect, I substituted the correct grammer to complete the sentence. But I did not change any of the meaning or the overall comments. Y'all can guess what my side of the discussion was like. Presented with a professed Bible believing Christian, who admitted what the Word of God says about sin and the punishment for it, I was simply baffled by what my friend was saying to me. I love my friends who are both sinners and saved. I love my unsaved friends all the more, because open rebuke is better than hidden love and I'd rather not love my friends to death by allowing them to live in their sins. I try to teach them that God offered up His Son so that we can repent of our sins and have eternal life with Him. We all know the Gospel of Jesus Christ so I won't jump up on that soap box, this time. So folks, tell me... What do you say about these comments? What does God have to say in his Word? Let's hear it... EMAIL ME |
